Design of the Week

January 12, 2006

Jerry Palmer Homes introduces this beautiful ranch style home inspired by the timeless essence of the Prairie style envisioned by the great architect Frank Lloyd Wright. This design's open floor plan queues upon the natural stone and wood appointments made popular in the early 1900's. With 1,930 main level square feet, the space includes a formal and informal dining area, an open hearth room living space, a large kitchen, a private office, walk in pantry, a large laundry area and a large custom master suite.

From the street, the front of the home exhibits the trademark craftsman style horizontal lines with staple features as the low pitch roof, a covered deck, extra wide sophits, unique combinations of stacked stone and brick, 5" concrete board siding and a full compliment of top shelf custom Pella Brand Prairie 9-lite windows.

Inside the front door, you find the distinct warmth and beauty of the style starting with the mission style oak wood trim and doors, stacked stone walls and faux finishes. Throughout the home spectacular mission style oak wood paneling and plastered gold embellished walls remind you of the old world styling. Off the main entrance lies the den (office or bedroom) with a unique private outside entrance for guests. Through this space, guests also have access to the gorgeous main floor powder room bathroom featuring Jerry Palmer's trademark floating lavatories.

The central hearth room and open kitchen areas are filled with incredible details not found in most ordinary homes. The inviting fireplace, on the 45-degree, flanked with a custom built maple wood mantle and stacked stone is made to anchor the entire space. The custom built in-wall entertainment system drives 3 displays and the theater surround sound system, all expertly hidden from view to preserve the simplistic styling that is true to the Prairie style. The fabulous kitchen includes custom cabinets, a professional Wolf stainless steel dual fuel range and Sub-Zero glass front refrigerator, a Bosch dishwasher, walk-in pantry and granite countertops. As always, every wood asset of this plan is custom made exclusively for Jerry Palmer

Even the garage in this home is extraordinary! Jerry does not believe that a home should have everything small. In this design, he has expertly designed an inconspicuous six-car, 40' x 40' space that is waiting to be filled with daily drivers, classic cars or motorcycles. A center drain and both hot and cold water supply add to the amenities of the space. This home also has special attention given to the epoxy coated concrete floor.

While taking in all the features of this home eventually you will find the luxurious master suite behind a set of 8' double chamber doors. Through this stately welcome is a space with a custom two-tiered ceiling and special accent lighting. The master bathroom features an exclusive air bubble massaging tub, double sink vanities, ceramic tile flooring, a distinctly Jerry Palmer original walk-in oynx material shower and massive walk-in closet with loads of custom shelving.
